You can use mini latch spring up to 14mm length( scale it for bigger springs )

Steel rod length is 25mm and diameter is 1.5mm(designed hole is 2mm dia.)

You should use longer flat end rod. After the assembly, when you cut the excess rod deformation at the end helps you to fix the pin.
